The word Vermouth originated from the French pronunciation of the German word Wermut - wormwood which was infused along with other botanicals over the drinks history.

Vermouth as we know it was first distilled in the late 18th century in Turin, Italy. It became very fashionable in the top bars in Turin who served it as an aperitif. In the late 19th century it became very popular as a cocktail ingredient. These classic cocktails, such as the Negroni and the Manhattan, have stood the test of time and are more popular than ever.
