Solerno is made with Blood Oranges that are grown on the slopes of Mt. Etna in Sicily. These are known as the Sanguinello Oranges which are picked when they are ripest which is between Winter and Spring. 

Locally these are known as Arancia Rossa for the deep colour which the flesh has, and is considered one of the Jewels of the Mediterranean with the deeper colours having a bolder flavour profile. Durin ght eWinter to Spring time these oranges have a much deeper colour and bestow a much richer flavour which the Solerno team utilises to create a better liqueur!
