Rum is distilled with sugarcane byproducts and then usually aged in oak barrels. The majority of the world's rum production occurs in the Caribbean.

Rum has a famous association with piracy which began with privateers trading it as a valuable commodity. Its association with the Royal Navy began in 1655 when the British fleet captured Jamaica. This new found supply of locally produced rum enabled the daily ration of liquor to be changed from French brandy to rum.

The daily 'tot' of rum was eventually abolished on 31st July 1970. If you are need of your daily 'tot' have a look at what we have selected for you and please drink responsibly.
