The Cabanne family have been winemakers and distillers for 6 generations and can trace their history in the Charente region back to 1686.
Alexis Cabanne has been cellar master since taking over from his father (who continues to keep an eye on things) and has developed the business considerably since 1999.
The family owned vineyards cover approximately 90 hectares around the villages of Saint Brice and Bourg Charente, a beautiful village approximately 5 miles east of the town of Cognac. The vineyards are located within the Petite Champagne & Fins Bois sub regions of the Cognac region, along the route of the Charente river between Cognac & Bourg Charente.
The distillery has 15 copper stills and have around 4000 hectolitres of Cognac, dating back to 1806 (Cognac Heritage Marie Domain) lying in barrel in their cellars. Eaux de vie is produced by Cabanne Distillery, under contract, for many other Cognac companies and liqueur producers in the region.
Alexis decided, in 1999, to produce relatively small quantities of bottled Cognac under the ‘RICHARD DELISLE’ and ‘CLUB CIGARE’ labels in 1999 for distribution in France and limited markets overseas.
